Hopefully, on day 17 of the ”Creative Christmas” series you have a good understanding of how to use your camera and have learnt a few tricks along the way, now it’s time to step outside your comfort zone and start photographing some new things.

If you only photograph landscapes go out and try photographing some street photography or cars and see if you get the same buzz.

It’s great to try new genres as all the basic skills are transferable and it will give you a better understanding of how light reacts with certain objects, which you can take back to what you love and will allow you to develop at a quicker rate.

There are loads of great ways of going about this, many people try photographing a different thing every day for a year or try a different genre each week a create a mini project from that.

This can provide great content for your social media and will allow you to track your development as a photographer over a set time.

This could be a great thing to kick off in the new year and if you have any ideas or want to start a project which everyone watching these can take part in, pop it in the comments below.

Just do something different – you never know what is going to work for you that you would never have imagined photographing.

Check back tomorrow for another in the “Creative Christmas” series and if you do want these short videos delivered straight to your inbox make sure you either subscribe to our Youtube channel or on the blog here and we’ll sort the rest for you.
